Much of the best work shownby studios of the better class is rather conventional, sothat the smaller and provincial men have no guide tohelp them and only too often lose interest in the artside and persist in grinding out the same stiff old stufffor filthy lucre, or to translate it, the almighty dollar. When the Associationwas mooted there were many who said that photog-raphers were too jealous over here to meet injustice of this was soon proved, and sincethe institution of the Annual Congress the mem-bership has increased yearly, for the photographers hereare as friendly as elsewhere.
