Closteriopsis lonyissima is by far the mostelongated member of the Selenastrese, attaining a length of530 p,; but there is some possibility that this Alga is adegenerate form of the Desmid Closterium acicidare (vide W. & G. S. W., 06), in which case itsinclusion in the Protococcales would clearly be incorrect.
