These two observers suggest that Pagetsdisease may be due to absence of parathyroid secretion and the consequentformation of substances which abstract calcium from the bones. In this dis-ease great quantities of new bone are formed, but calcification does not material undergoes absorption, and themedullary substance of the bone becomes ex-tremely vascular and filled with white blood-cells, and also with giant-cells. The boneslengthen and thicken. The long bones bend.
