New Yorkers, tourists and subway buffs, some in period garb, wait for the arrival of a vintage MTA Nostalgia Train on Saturday, December 17, 2011. The straps, ceiling fans and rattan seats are a far cry from the plastic and air conditioning in modern subway cars. The Metropolitan Transit Authority has several of these trains for the various subway lines which they put into use for special occasions. the trains normally reside in the NYC Transit Museum in downtown Brooklyn.
