Dallas, USA. 20th Aug, 2017. Officially, summer daytime temperatures have started their descent toward fall. To celebrate, we visited DFW International Airport. The airport in area is larger than the island of Manhattan. The hay fields are under the final approach on all 7 runways. Credit: dallaspaparazzo/Alamy Live News

Dallas International is the official record keeper of climatology for the Dallas and Ft. Worth Metroplex. The airport sits straddling Dallas County and Tarrant County Lines. The airport is massive. It is larger than the island of Manhattan (New York City), has seven active runways, the most of any airport thus far and has not one, not two, but three control towers, again, the most of any airport facility. The development on airport property includes massive distribution centers and warehouses. It also includes acreage in natural ecology for birds and wildlife. Thankfully, away from the runways. It is an awesome adventure to Founders Plaza to watch the "heavies" come in to land, be they cargo and freighters or passengers commercial international arrivals or departures. In the images, you can see clear sky and then the change in both wind directions, the wind speed from light and varable to steady 12-14 MPH. With that came the rich moisture from the Mountains of Mexico and the Gulf of Mexico in the form of clouds.
