This pagan formof disposing of dead bodies was Zo-roastrian in its first intent, as it is Par-see in its last evolution. The formof the burial tower has been transmittedto Persian architecture, and thoughgreatly modified in the hands of thebuilders of the last eight centuries, itstill reappears in tombs. In such struc- tures the ground plan is form is carried up slopingslightly to a considerable height, and isthen surmounted with a sharp pyramidaltower of stone shooting upwards muchin the form of the ancient burial towers \. ?
