060502-N-4565G-004 Atlantic Ocean (May 2, 2006) - A hose team assigned to a shipÕs repair locker combats a controlled fire on the Mobile Aircraft Firefighting Training Device (MAFTD) aboard aboard the conventionally powered aircraft carrier USS John F. Kennedy (CV 67). The MAFTD uses clean burning propane gas to create several independently controlled fires from various locations. This capability permits simulation of the different fires types possible on carrier-based aircraft. Kennedy is underway conducting crew proficiency training off the coast of Florida.
