Male genitourinary system. Computer artwork of a section through the pelvic region of a man, showing the position of the genitals and urinary organs. The kidneys (not seen) filter water-soluble waste products from the blood and pass them through the ureters (not seen) into the bladder (oval, upper centre), where they are stored as urine. When the bladder is full the urine is passed out of the body through the urethra (tube, vertical centre) inside the penis (lower left). The testes (testicles) can be seen hanging next to the penis, connected by the vas deferens (tubes) that run from the epididymis to the seminal vesicles behind the bladder and prostate gland (below bladder). The rectum (red, centre right) can also be seen.
