A major eruption in 2001 left this lava and crater on the most active volcano in Europe, Mount Etna in Sicily.
Mount Etna on the east coast of Sicily is the tallest active volcano on the European continent and around 3300 meters high. At the edge of the African and Eurasian plate the stratovolcano is one of the most active volcanoes in the world and almost constantly active. The major eruption in 2001 left this lava and crater. Der rund 3300 Meter hohe Ätna an der Ostküste Siziliens ist der höchste Vulkan Europoas. An der Grenze zwischen der afrikanischen und der eurasischen Platte ist dieser Stratovulkan einer der aktivsten Vulkane der Welt und gilt praktisch immer als aktiv. Ein größerer Ausbruch 2013 lließ diesen Lavastrom zurück.
