This was a common complaint in Shelby County last year. At present, most farmers prefer feeders to hogs, which are found in larger numbers on the low-income farms than on those of the wealthier farmers. Sows averaged 6 per farm, and other hogs 20 in 1940. Pigs are farrowed principally in the Spring.
