And I must not omit another :— Dec. 6, 1907.—Princes Edward and Albert firedtheir first shots out of a small single muzzle-loader,being the same gun with which His Majesty KingEdward, the late Duke of Clarence,- and the Princeof Wales fired their first shots. Some of the best beats for pheasants are within astones throw of the house, and are known as Com-modore and Dersingham Woods. Wolferton Woodis perhaps better still ; there are some remarkably fineold forest trees here, and the wood has yielded excep-tionally good sport for some years. Anmer, which, ashas been remarked. His Majesty added to the estate afew years since, is distinguished by a number of smallcoverts which provide particularly pretty shooting, forhere as a rule the birds come very high. OnNovember 20, 1874, 42 woodcock were shot years later, on the 9th of the month, 27 wereadded to the bag; and Wolferton Wood, exactly threeweeks later, oddly enough yielded precisely the samenumber. In one year I find that 118 woodcock werekilled at Sandringham ; it is not unusual to come acrossmention of days when 30 or thereabouts have beenshot. There is record of 31 on Novem
