While thus situated hewas accustomed to walk home on Saturday to seehis family, returning on Sunday in order to be readvfor school Monday morning. As the walk for a goodpart of the time was 20 miles each way, it is evitleiitthat at that period of his life no cimimon obstaclesdeterred him from performing what he regardedas a duty. His wife was none the less consci-entious in her sphere, and with added responsibilitiesand increasing requirements she labored faithfullyin the perfoinance of all her duties. They hadten children, one son and nine daughters. His son,Hon. A\m. W. Crapo, of New Bedford, is now anhonored Representative to Congress from the FirstCongressiptial J)i5trict of 7 ?i ^ n
