Flute casts in sand

Fluted patterns in beach sand as a result of rapidly streaming water flowing seawards during ebb tide. In this example an essential precondition for their formation is the presence of shells or other solid objects in the sand, on the leeside of which sand is not carried along by the current, thus forming the flute cast.
