White They are locally common in some of the southernand central states. They are active gleaners ofthe underbrush, keeping well within the depthsof tangled thickets. Like the Maryland Yellow-throat, which has similar habits to those of thisbird, they are quite inquisitive and frequentlycome close to you to investigate or to scold. Theynest on the ground in open woods or on shrubbyhillsides, making large structures, of leaves andstrips of bark, lined with grasses.
