Retired Lt. Col. Robert “Bob” Leiendecker, a historian with the National EOD Association, gives a speech at the opening ceremony for the 2018 Ordnance Crucible at Fort AP Hill, Va., June 3, 2018. EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) teams are assessed on operations and associated tasks required to provide EOD support to unified land operations to eliminate and/or reduce explosive threats. The Ordnance Crucible is designed to test Soldiers' teamwork and critical thinking skills as they apply technical solutions to real world problems improving readiness of the force.
