Surgeons Instruments and Appliances. 207 Combined Battery— Made to the design of Dr. H. Lewis Jones, Chief Physican ofthe Electrical Department of St. Bartholomews Hospital. For Galvanic and Faradic Currents. (Combined Currents.). Fig. 819. Size of box 11 in. x 9 in. x 9 in. This Batter}contains 2$ dry cells, non-short-circuiting-dial collector,milliampere-meter, current reverser, induction coil for faradic currents, two large Leclanche cells for working the coil, four electrodes and box is made of strong polished teak, dovetailed and screwed; thetop is ebonite, and the fittings are nickel-plated. The milliampere-meter has jewelled pivot, and is furnished with-jLth shunt. Note.— These boxes were designed after careful study of their requirements, and with a knowledge of the weak points of such apparatus. Special Features of this Battery— The two-pronged Dial Collector does not short-circuit the cells evenfor a moment, and yet does not give shocks by breaking circuit. The Cells, therefore, do not run down, but last much longer thanin any other form of battery; with ordinary care they will last for years. The Cells when exhausted are not worthless, but half-price is allowedfor them when returned, ther
