Her voice in childhood wasnoted for its purity and compass. At the age of sixteen she had sungthe leading roles in several operettaswith marked success, and soon after began her ca-reer as a choirsinger in thecities of Con-cord, M a n -Chester, andLawrence,continuing inthat capacityfor severalyears. Mean-time, while ona concert tourin the West,her voice at-tracted theattention o fthe late JohnB.
