Pictured: Judges inspect a contestant's offering at the annual Daffodil Society Show. / Hundreds of keen gardeners, horticultural and gardening society members, botanists and visitors attend The Daffodil Society's annual show at Coughton Court, Alcester,Warwickshire. The Daffodil Society was established in 1898 as the specialist society of Great Britain and it's aim is to promote the whole of the genus Narcissus, the botanical name for their favourite flower. The words Narcissus and Daffodil relate to the same flower but the Society uses the more common name Daffodil. Coughton Court was gifted to the National Trust in 1946 by the Throckmortons, where the family continue to live, ensuring six centuries of unbroken tradition.
