The motor that works the crane at the mill end is 15 li p . 125 v., machine, with reversible drum controller,Westinghouse type, used for piling and loading timber atthe mill end. The 75 box planer is capable of dressing lumberfour sided at the rate of 200 lineal ft. per minute, while the50 timber planer in the planing factory, is capable ofdressing lumber four sided at a speed of 250 lineal ft. perminute. The management of the factory is organized as follows:one general supervisor, each department being under a fore-man; the labor employed is mixed, there being a number oflaps and Hindoos along with the white men, the latter, ofcourse, holding the most responsible jobs. Upwards of 200men are employed. The wood chiefly used is first spruce, and cedar is handledalso; the shipping is done by rail and water; domestic andexport in New Westminster by rail (). The engineer-ing staff consists of the following: chief engineer, electrician,blacksmith and helper, machinist, and mill-wrights. Thecompany own their own machine shop and repairs are doneright on the job. The equipment includes 2 lathes and ashaper, drill press
