Its mission is to providethe staff and personnel required forthe supervision ot a Signal Base De-pot group, with both supply and rearechelon maintenance functions. The 303rd Signal Service Bat-talion, THQ, the largest of theseunits, may serve as an example ofthe seasoned quality of these BellSystem cadres. More than80 percent, moreover, had served anaverage of years in World WarII. During its training duty at CampGordon, Company B of this unit,under Captain W. C. Giller, wascommended by the Deputy Com-mander of the Third Army for itssuperior condition; First Lieuten-ant J. J. Novacek was cited foroutstanding work done; and theInformation and Education Centerdeveloped by the company was calledparticularly noteworthy. One ofthe Battalions members, moreover,Sgt. G. K. Robitchek, installer, Chicago Plant, waschosen Soldier of theMonth for March atC
