Close to St. Pauls Columns standsa Byzantine church, which serves for theworship of the Christian inhabitants ofPaphos. It contains the usual eikons andpictures met with in Greek churches; onepicture, which appeared to be a very oldone, particularly attracted my attention, itrepresenting some saint or apostle whoseface had been obliterated. The natives arespoiling this church by erecting two gim-crack belfries at the western door, of adesign such as is executed by a pastrycookin sugar.
