12/07/22 Michael, 11, uses an interactive augmented reality, digital tour on a tablet at St Mary’s Guildhall to explore The Coventry Tapestry dating back to 1505-1515. The Coventry Tapestry has just been re-hung at St Mary’s Guildhall behind fireproof and UV reducing glass after an investment of more than 6 million pounds from the Cultural Capital Investment Fund resourced through Coventry City Council, Arts Council England, the Getting Building Fund through the Coventry and Warwickshire LEP, and the National Lottery Heritage Fund, thanks to National Lottery players. The beautiful Grade 1 listed building has been carefully restored and has uncovered one of the best-preserved medieval kitchens in the country. This can now be enjoyed by visitors for the first time in almost a century. The building, next to Coventry Cathedral, miraculously avoided wartime bomb damage, and opens to the public in time for the summer school holidays.
