'Big Muley' lunar rock sample from Apollo 16 mission. This is lunar rock sample number 61016. It is an example of impact melt breccia. It was obtained from the east rim of Plum Crater during the Apollo 16 mission (16-27 April 1972). Known as 'Big Muley', it was named after William R. Muehlberger, the leader of the Apollo 16 field geology team. This rock, one of the largest brought back from the Moon, weighed kilograms. It was processed and stored at the Lunar Sample Laboratory Facility, Houston, Texas, USA.
