The flowers are as double as a rose, of many shades of color, from deep yellow, red, purple to pure white. Plant the seed in June or July in open ground, and when the plants have made five leaves, transplant to three feet apart; the following summer they will bloom; hardy peren- nial; 3 to 5 feet. New Mammoth Fringed Hollyhock "; The flowers of this grand new variety are from 4 to 6 inches across ranging from semi-double to double and are finely fringed and curled. The colors are shell pink, rose, and ruby red, a shade or two deep- er at the center and exquisitely tinted toward the edge. The flowers do not rot on the stalk as do the other varieties, but drop as soon as they fade and every bud to the top of the stem develops into a flower, making the blooming season consider- ably longer, which is from June until frost 10.
