1925 moonlight Illuminations picture postcard shot people walking Princess Parade towards Cenotaph and Tower, Blackpool, UK

A picture postcard, entitled 'Princess Parade and War Memorial, Blackpool Illuminations', published by Allen and Sons, Blackpool, and bearing the copyright number 654. The colour-tinted shot likely dates to 1925, when the Illuminations returned after World War 1. Blackpool Tower opened in 1894. The Great Wheel (visible left background) opened in 1896 as a rival to the Tower, but, becoming unprofitable, was demolished in 1928. The Cenotaph was unveiled on Armistice Day 1923. The North Pier, right mid-distance, opened in 1863 as Blackpool's oldest pier. The Princess Parade, in the foreground, was officially opened by Princess Louise, Duchess of Argyll, in 1912. Note the people wearing 1920s style clothes.
