GEORGEhenry HEYVVOOD, only son ofHenry and Martha (Temple) Hejwood, was bornin Gardner, Massachusetts, July 28, 1862, died May17, 1898. He began his education in the publicschools of his native town, graduating from thehigh school as valedictorian of his class in 1884, after four years of study in the Massa-chusetts Institute of Technology in Boston, he grad-uated in the course in mining engineering. Hethen entered the office of Heywood Bros. & Co., andthe next year went to Boston to open a branch store,over which he had charge and where he remainedtwo years.
