Helston, Cornwall, UK. 8th May 2013. Helston Flora day is held annually on the 8th May. It is an ancient festival that celebrates the end of winter and mark the new spring season. Shops and houses are decorated with floral displays. Dances are held throughout the day and couples dance for miles along the city streets in and out of shops and houses, accompanied by the town band. Once the big bass drum strikes at 7am the first dance commences. Midday dancers make their way through the town. Credit: Bob Sharples / Alamy Live News
