T-33A turbojet engine on maintenance stand in Montana ANG hangar. Sir Frank Whittle would recognize the last iteration of his engine. The Allison J33-A-35 is derivative of the de Havilland/Whittle engine. A single stage centrifugal-flow compressor section feeds a single-stage axial flow turbine. Engine produces 4600 pounds thrust dry (note: 5400 pounds thrust available with water-alcohol injection). Not sure T-33A actually had/used this capability? General Electric initially lead the development of the Whittle derivative but their slow production resulted in Allison getting contract.
