The channel between the Vaxo and the Rindo is alone navigableto Stockholm by large vessels. On a rocky islet in the middle of itrises the Fortress of Vaxholm, founded by Gustavus Vasa and latelystrengthened. On the Rindo opposite is the little watering-placeof i?mdo&a<2en(StoraBad-Hot., R. 2-6 kr), with sea-baths and achalybeate spring. At the E. end of the islet rises the Oskar-Frede-riksborg, with casemates and batteries partly hewn in the rock.
