The picnic given by the Pineliurst Floral Co. at Pleasant Hill, Mo., July 5, was one of the first social affairs that the local florists have had for a number of years. Nearly 200 florists and their families and employees attended. The day was perfect and everybody had a good time. Many of the guests drove down in their cars, but those who did not were met at the train and all as- sembled at the main greenhouse. After an inspection of the range, all went to Baldwin's lake, a picturesque spot a short distance from town. Lunch was served here, consisting of fried chicken, sandwiches, coffee, cake and ice cream. After lunch J. F. Ammann, secretary of the National Flower Growers' Asso- ciation, spoke on the advantages of co- operation among growers, the benefits of publicity to every branch of the business and the great results that are sure to come from closer relationship of the various branches of the business.
