Bamiyan Replica Buddha Statue of Tsunami Honganji Vihara


This Bamiyan statue has been erected for the remembrance of the victims of the Indian Ocean Tsunami tragedy 2004 and it is the symbol of hope for the mental and spiritual relief of all Tsunami victims of this country and also promotes propagation of Buddhism and its culture by making stronger ties between Japan and Sri Lanka. The foundation stone was laid on the 1st anniversary of the Tsunami tragedy on 26th of December 2005.
