In the afternoon many of theofficers were given shore leave for two six in the evening, just after darknesshad set in, and all the lights had come outalong the base of the giant rock, the shipsailed out of the bay again and turned itsface towards the United States. Of the homeward voyage there is littleto record. A half hour physical drill inthe morning, boat drill in the afternoon forthe first few days, and the morning andafternoon band concerts when the weatherpermitted were the only events of the portholes at least were a welcome.
