Its exosmotic properties are ex-tremely serviceable in reducing the size ofthe swollen glands. The enlargement is aptto subside slowly, even after the active stageof the inflammation has passed. Childrenwho are old enough to gargle may employthe remedy in this manner. In those tooyoung it may be applied upon absorbentcotton. Representative cases are: Case 1.—A boy, eleven years of age, hadsuffered for a day from headache and fever,with pain in swallowing. Both tonsils werered and swollen, especially the right, whichwas studded with patches of exudation fromthe crypts. Case 2.—A girl, aged fifteen years, had hada chill twenty • four hours previously, herthroat felt sore, and it pained her to glands of the neck were swollen andthere was fever.
