A FORCE OF GERMAN DESTROYERS WAS SIGHTED BY AIRCRAFT STEERING WEST OFF BREST, BRITISH LIGHT FORCES IN THE VICINITY PROCEEDED AT FULL SPEED TO INTERCEPT AND ENDEAVOUR TO BRING THEM TO ACTION. SOON AFTER 4 PM A CRUISER ENGAGED THE ENEMY AT EXTREME RANGE 100 MILES WEST OF LANDS END.
