Mycenaean pottery Jar with scale decoration and handles, 1450 -1400 BC, Loupoundo Tomb VII. Mycenae archaeological site Museum, Greece. Mycenaean pottery was produced from c. 1600 BC to c. 1000 BC by Mycenaean Greek potters. Mycenaeans rose in prominence around 1600 BC and stayed in control of Greece until about 1100 BC. Evidence shows that they spoke an early form of Greek. The Mycenaeans took control of Minoan Crete c. 1450 BC and much of the finest Mycenaean pottery used or adapted styles from the very well-established tradition of Minoan pottery,
