Comparison of C. ramosa with these species shows it to be distinct from them all (see Table 16). It is morphologically most similar to C. monticula (Eich- wald, 1860) but differs significantly by having thicker branches and larger autozooecial apertures. Bassler (1929) regards Rhomhoporal spiralis Ulrich 1890 from the Carboniferous of Kentucky as belong- ing to Clausotrypa. However, after examination of the original description and figures I consider the taxon to be correctly identified by Ulrich. Stratigraphical range. Lower Carboniferous (Asbian). Distribution.
