Crested Lepidagathis

Inflorescence of Lepidagathis cuspidata. This large herb grows on rocky plateaus and close to the crest line of the Western Ghats. The Inflorescence is spiny on account of the spine tipped bracts. These bracts also have glandular hairs which give it a characteristic smell. The flowers are visited by plenty of bees since like many other Acanthaceae members, this plant also yields good amount of nectar.
