They have one child,Grace G., born June 16, 1887. Fred G. Taft, father of Mrs. Strickland, wasborn in New York City, son of Joel Taft, a joiner,who at one time worked en Trinity church. Helearned his fathers trade, and engaged in the manu-facture of sash and blinds. In 1847 fie broughthis family to Connecticut, settling in Glastonbury,where he died in 1863. His political sympathieswere with the Democratic party, and in religion hewas a member of the M. E. Church. Mr. Taft wastwice married, his first wife being Eresby Driggs,.
