A sketch of the 7th company camp at Daspoort in 1900, now a suburb of City of Tshwane. It was created in 1897 on the farm area of the same name. The area was discovered in 1836 by Andries Pretorius and named after the rock hyrax or Dassie, a medium-sized terrestrial mammal native to Africa and the Middle East . The nearby Daspoort Tunnel is named after the suburb.
