Lake in Priors Close Park, Melton Mowbray. Originally the site of allotments, the site was purchased by Mars/Pedigree Petfoods and landscaped to create a park and garden with a large lake for the benefit of wildlife and the local community as part of the Golden Jubilee celebration of Mars as company in the UK. The resulting park was handed over to the Senior Town warden in 1985 and was regenerated in 2008. The park is very close to the town centre and provides a retreat where locals and tourists can sit and enjoy the views and wildlife and feed the resident ducks.
