Road disappearing into the jungle. This is the main road encircling Efate, the main island of Vanuatu in the South Pacific. Some parts of Vanuatu have been taken over my mile-a-minute vine, a rapidly growing plant apparently introduced into the islands by the US military as it provided cover from aerial surveillance for their equipment. In this view, the road that circles the island of Efate passes through an area in which the vine has smothered not only the trees, but also abandoned equipment and buildings from an old nickel mine. It's hard to tell what is under the growth!
