He was made a Fellow of the AmericanARTHUR FAIRBANKS. School of Classical Studies at Athens, Greece, 1898-99. In 1899-1900 he was Acting Assistant Professor of Ancient Philosophy in CornellUniversity, and became Professor of Greek Literature and Archaeology at the Universityof Iowa in 1900. He is the author of a number of magazine articles mainly on topics connected withthe religion of the ancient Henry E. Gordon Professor Gordon is a Massachusetts man and agraduate of Amherst in the class of 79. Aftergraduation he took charge of an educational enter-prise in Colorado where he acted as principal ofTillotson Academy at Trinidad. In 1896 this institu-tion was moved to Colorado Springs and consolidatedwith Cutler Academy. Prof. Gordon accepted thechair of Rhetoric and Oratory in Colorado Collegewhich position he resigned in 1900 to accept the chairof Public Speaking in the University of Iowa. Be-sides the degree of A. B. from Amherst he has aTeachers Diploma from the Boston School of Ex-pression, and has taken the courses in argumentationat the Harvard Summer School.
