Barnacle geese. Pair of barnacle geese (Branta leucopsis) and their goslings. The female lays between 4 and 6 eggs once a year in a nest on a high cliff top, or rocky outcropping. The female incubates the eggs for 3 to 4 weeks, while the male collects food and protects the nest. A few hours after hatching the goslings are lead down from the precariously placed nests to feeding areas.
