Lewis, is different in design and de-tail from all that have preceded it. On reference to the diagram, it will be seen that the base is was found while constructing the Brandywine and Carysfoot lighthouses, that there was a want ofrigidity in the frame-tower, and that the application of any external force produced a vibratory move-ment about the central axis of the frame.
