People listening to speeches while holding candles during the a hundred people gathered at the Domplein in Utrecht, to hold a vigil to show their solidarity with the refugees, residents of the Greek islands and NGOs. During the last week, the situation along the Turkey-Greece border has substantially deteriorated. Migrants trying to reach Europe have clashed violently with Greek riot police as Turkey claimed more than 76,000 people were now heading for the EU as a result of President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s decision to open the Turkish side of the border.
