Leaves floating, orbic-ular or nearly so, 4-12 in diameter,glabrous, green and shining above,purple and more or less pubescentbeneath, cordate-cleft or reniform,the sinus open but sometimes narrow ;jictioles and peduncles slender, with4 main air-channels; flowers white,or sometimes pink. 3-6 broad, fra-grant; petals numerous, in manyrows, narrowly oblong, obtuse; fruitglobose, or slightly depressed: seedsstipitate, oblong, shorter than the aril.
