Chameleon I molecular cloud, JWST image

James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) image of the central region of the Chameleon I dark molecular cloud. Cloud material (blue, centre) is illuminated by the young, outflowing protostar Ced 110 IRS 4 (orange, upper left). Background stars behind the cloud are seen as orange dots. Different ices in the clouds absorb this starlight as it passes through them. Chamaeleon I is 630 light years from Earth. Image captured by JWST's Near-Infrared Camera (NIRCam).
