City of Brighton & Hove, East Sussex, UK. Burning the Clocks is a unique community event held on the 21st of December annually, created by Same Sky, bringing the city together to mark the shortest day of the year. Local,s make their own paper and willow lanterns, using kits, provided by Samesky and after parading through the city, they pass them into a blazing bonfire on Brighton beach, as a token of the year’s end. Same Sky is supported by Arts Council England and the Chalk Cliff Trust. It's estimated that over 1000 people attended the march with another 10,000 watching on. 21st December 2022


Same Sky is the largest community arts charity in the South East. Our portfolio includes projects large and small and everything from street parades to water-based theatre, carnivals to choreography; sculpture trails to fire and light spectaculars.
