Sergei Volkov (born 1973), Russian cosmonaut. Volkov has (as of 2010) taken part in one mission, commanding the Expedition 17 crew on the International Space Station (ISS) for six months from April to October 2008. He is the youngest to date to command the ISS. The ascent to the ISS and the return to Earth took place in a Soyuz spacecraft (mission Soyuz TMA-12), launching on 8 April 2008 and returning on 24 October 2008. Volkov is the first second-generation astronaut, being the son of Soviet cosmonaut Aleksandr Volkov (born 1948).
