Mining ore pits. 18th-century illustration of the pits in which metal ores (mainly tin) from Cornish mines was processed. Artwork from 'Mineralogia Cornubiensis: A Treatise on Minerals, Mines and Mining' (1778) by British antiquary William Pryce (). This work was a history of mining in Cornwall. The dedication is to Humphry Morice (1723-1785), Member of Parliament for Launceston, Lord Warden of the Stannaries, and Steward of the Duchy of Cornwall.
